Chamber of Commerce – Three times is a Charm!

For years, New Castle, did not have a Chamber of Commerce. Two attempts to create had failed. Rob Greenstein made a third attempt.

In 2012, Rob Greenstein led the effort to start the Chappaqua-Millwood Chamber of Commerce.  Click graphic to read Rob’s letter calling for a chamber.  Others had tried to create this business network but had been unable to do so. Rob succeeded. The Chamber of was formed to foster economic growth and to advance the commercial well-being of the community through strong and vibrant business districts.

Rob wasn’t an elected official when the Chamber was started. He wasn’t even a local merchant. Instead, he was (and still is) a small business owner who wanted to get involved in our community. His philosophy was simple….we must support each other!

The Chamber focused on community events. It reinvigorated Summer Concerts. Under Rob’s leadership, the Chamber introduced food vendors and activities for kids and introduced bands like Tramps Like Us. He started events such as Holiday Stroll (now known as Wine Around Town), Movies in Millwood and Taste of Chappaqua. To build support among merchants, Rob created a merchant directory. He highlighted a different merchant every week – Merchant of the Week. Rob featured 83 different merchants! Banners and car magnets can still be around town. After the first year, the Chamber had 170 members!

Years later, the Chamber is still thriving. It’s a powerful organization for our merchants and a staple in our community.
